The Racingline Performance Cold-Air Intake System is a complete, high-flow replacement for the restrictive factory airbox fitted to the VW Polo GTI (6C) and SEAT Ibiza Cupra (6J) 1.8 TSI. By feeding the engine a larger, cooler and denser supply of air, it improves throttle response, supports tuning upgrades and adds a satisfying induction sound under acceleration.

The standard airbox on the 1.8 TSI engine becomes a bottleneck once the car is remapped or driven hard. Racingline’s system solves this with a large-diameter intake path that draws cold air directly from outside the engine bay, rather than recycling hot air from around the engine.

Filter Options

At the heart of the kit is an oversized, high-flow filter housed within a fully enclosed, black anodised aluminium chamber. Both filter types are handmade in the UK and chosen to suit different driving preferences:

• Trifoam (Foam): A three-layer foam filter offering excellent filtration with very low restriction. A popular choice for road and fast road use.
• Pleated Cotton: A traditional oiled cotton filter with a large pleated surface area, favoured for its long service life and strong airflow characteristics.

Both options provide the surface area and filtration quality needed to support higher power outputs while keeping the engine properly protected.

Design and Sound

The fully enclosed housing acts as a ram-air style intake, channelling cold air from the front of the car straight into the filter. Because the chamber is sealed from engine bay heat, intake temperatures stay lower for more consistent performance. The enclosure also keeps induction noise controlled, so you get an enjoyable intake roar under hard acceleration without excessive volume during normal driving.
