Racingline Oil Cooler Kit for 2.0 TSI EA888 Gen.3 & Gen.4 Engines (2013+)
Cooler oil means a better protected engine. The more power your 2.0 TSI is making, and the harder you drive it, the more important it becomes to keep oil temperatures under control. The Racingline Oil Cooler Kit (VWR18G700) is a complete, ready to install solution designed specifically for hard-driven MQB and MQB ‘Evo’ 2.0 TSI vehicles, including popular Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT and Skoda models running the EA888 Gen.3 and Gen.4 engines from 2013 onwards.
Adding power to these engines generates more heat for the oil to absorb. When oil temperatures climb too high, the oil thins and loses its ability to lubricate properly, which is when engine wear and failures start to occur. Equally, you don’t want to over-cool the oil. Racingline’s 10-row core is sized to strike the right balance for road and track use.
How it works
The kit uses a clever sandwich plate design that sits between the engine block and the oil filter housing, redirecting oil out to an additional air-to-oil cooler mounted in the airflow at the front of the car. The factory oil-to-water cooler is retained, so you effectively double up your cooling capability while reducing heat transfer into the coolant system.
In real-world use, oil temperatures typically drop by around 15 to 20 degrees Centigrade, depending on driving style, ambient conditions and state of tune.
What’s included
- AN10 10-row oil cooler core
- Billet CNC non-return sandwich plate
- Billet oil filter housing with removable drop-in stainless steel filter
- AN10 210-series nylon braided feed and return lines
- Oil cooler mounting brackets (one set for Audi S3 8V, one set for all other MQB and MQB ‘Evo’ vehicles)
- Full fitting kit with all nuts, bolts, washers and rubber mounting bobbins
Fitting notes
Mounting the cooler bracket requires drilling bolt holes through the front crash bar. Please factor this into your installation planning.
Important: Newly Built Engines
Racingline does not recommend immediate installation of this Oil Cooler kit on a freshly rebuilt engine (non-factory rebuilds). The stainless steel oil filter has very high filtration capabilities, so assembly chemicals such as molybdenum paste, engine assembly lube and grease will be carried through the oil and can restrict or even block the filter.
On a newly assembled engine, complete a running-in period of at least 1,000 miles (1,600 km), followed by a full oil flush and change using VWG-approved oil. The Oil Cooler kit can then be safely installed. After a further 1,000 miles, the stainless steel oil filter should be inspected and thoroughly chemically cleaned.
Once installed, Racingline recommends the stainless steel oil filter is inspected, cleaned or replaced every 5,000 miles, in line with the vehicle’s normal service intervals.
Fitment
Designed for 2.0 TSI EA888 Gen.3 and Gen.4 engines (2013 onwards) across the MQB and MQB ‘Evo’ platforms, covering a wide range of VW Golf GTI / R, Audi S3 / TTS, SEAT Leon Cupra and Skoda Octavia vRS models. Please use the vehicle lookup on our site, or check the Vehicle Fitment tab, to confirm compatibility with your exact car.
Why fit a Racingline Oil Cooler?
Under hard driving the standard oil cooler is quickly overwhelmed. By moving heat away from the engine and into a dedicated front-mounted core sitting directly in the cool airflow, oil temperatures stay in their ideal operating range. That means better lubrication, more consistent performance on long stints or track days, and improved long-term engine protection – particularly important on tuned cars or in hot climates.
As an authorised UK dealer for Racingline Performance, Progressive Parts supplies the complete genuine kit, exactly as it leaves the Racingline workshop.
