Why Upgrade the Springs and Dampers Together?

Fitting lowering springs to standard dampers is a common compromise that often leads to a harsher ride and faster wear on the original shocks, as they aren’t valved for the shorter, stiffer spring rates. By matching Racingline’s springs with their own performance dampers, the whole system works in harmony. The result is firmer body control through corners, less roll and dive, and a planted feel at speed, without making the car uncomfortable on everyday roads.

Racingline have tuned this kit on the MQB multi-link platform that underpins the Golf R, so the damping rates suit both the weight of the car and the lowered ride height.

Lowering and Ride Height

This kit lowers the Golf Mk8 R by approximately 20-25mm front and rear. That’s enough to noticeably tighten the look and improve the centre of gravity for keener handling, but still practical for kerbs, speed bumps and driveways.

Fitment Notes

Please read carefully before ordering:

• Suitable only for the Golf Mk8 R 3-door and 5-door Hatch models
• Not suitable for Golf R Estate / ‘ST’ Wagon variants
• Not suitable for vehicles fitted with DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control) or Magnetic Ride adaptive suspension

If you’re unsure whether your car has DCC, check your vehicle’s options list or factory build sheet, as fitting this kit to a DCC-equipped car will disable the adaptive damping system.
