Racingline Stage 2 ‘EVO’ Monoblock Performance Brake Kit – MQB Golf 7/8, S3, Cupra
The Racingline Stage 2 ‘EVO’ Performance Brake Kit is a serious front brake upgrade designed for fast-road driving and the occasional track day. Built around a lightweight one-piece (monoblock) four-piston caliper and a larger 345mm grooved disc, it delivers a real step up in stopping power, pedal feel and visual presence over the standard setup fitted to MQB platform cars.
As an authorised UK Racingline dealer, we supply this kit complete with everything needed for installation, available in three caliper colours to suit your build.
Why Upgrade Your Brakes?
Power without braking confidence is wasted. If your car has been tuned, or you simply want consistent stopping performance during spirited driving, the factory brakes can struggle, particularly with heat build-up that causes fade (a loss of braking power as the brakes get hot).
The ‘EVO’ kit addresses this with more thermal capacity, a stiffer caliper for sharper pedal response and pad compounds developed for road and light track use. The result is braking that feels stronger, more progressive and more repeatable.
Monoblock Caliper Construction
Monoblock means the caliper body is machined from a single piece of aluminium rather than bolted together from two halves. This makes it significantly stiffer, which translates to better pedal feel and less flex under hard braking. It also allows the caliper to be lighter without losing strength.
The full caliper, pad and bracket assembly weighs 4.4kg per side, compared to 8.6kg for the factory Golf 7R kit. That is roughly half the weight, which is a meaningful reduction in unsprung mass (the weight not supported by the suspension springs). Less unsprung weight helps the suspension respond more quickly to the road surface, improving ride and handling.
Larger Discs and Pads
The kit uses a 345mm x 30mm single-piece disc with a triple-groove face. The increased diameter and thickness give greater heat capacity, reducing fade during repeated heavy braking.
The brake pad itself is the same size as the one used on the Ferrari F40. Beyond the bragging rights, this matters for a practical reason: it is a generic, widely available pad shape, so you are free to choose any brand or compound when it comes time to replace them.
Racingline’s piston sizing has been developed specifically for VW Group cars, giving a balanced, progressive pedal feel rather than the overly aggressive bite found on some aftermarket kits.
