Racingline Turbo Inlet System – EA888 Gen.4 EVO (245PS Garrett Turbo Models)
Get the most from your 2.0 TSI Gen.4 ‘Evo’ engine with the Racingline Turbo Inlet System (VWR120003). This two-piece kit is engineered specifically for the 245PS variants fitted with the Garrett turbo, including the Mk8 Golf GTI, Audi A3 40 TFSI, Cupra Leon and Skoda Octavia vRS.
The standard turbo inlet is one of the biggest airflow restrictions on these cars. Air is forced through a narrow plastic ‘bellows’ pipe before tapering into an even tighter plastic inlet on the turbo itself. That bottleneck holds the engine back, particularly once you’ve fitted a high-flow intake system that’s capable of feeding the turbo more air than the factory plumbing can pass.
Engineered for Unrestricted Airflow
The kit replaces the restrictive factory parts with a matched pair of components: a large diameter Turbo 90 Inlet and a reinforced silicone hose. Together they create a smooth, uninterrupted path straight into the turbo.
The internal diameter is increased from 62.5mm on the factory part to 76mm on the Racingline piece. It’s only by upgrading both components together that this much larger diameter can be achieved, which is where the real airflow gains come from.
What You Get
- Turbo 90 Inlet: CNC-machined from T6-6061 aircraft-grade aluminium with an ultra-thin wall and an internal velocity stack (a shaped entry that helps guide air smoothly into the turbo). Sealed with a Viton O-ring for long-term reliability.
- Silicone Turbo Inlet Hose: Reinforced to resist deformation under the heat and pressure conditions found in the engine bay.
What Difference Does It Make?
With the restriction removed, you can expect sharper throttle response, improved boost build-up and a small reduction in turbo lag (the brief delay before the turbo starts producing boost). On a standard car the gains are modest, but once paired with a high-flow intake or a tuned ECU the benefits become much more noticeable, as the turbo is finally able to draw the air it needs.
Installation is straightforward and can typically be completed in around 30 minutes with basic hand tools.
Fitment
Designed for popular VW Group EA888 Gen.4 ‘Evo’ 2.0 TSI engines producing 245PS and fitted with the Garrett turbocharger, including models such as the VW Golf 8 GTI, Audi A3, Cupra Leon and Skoda Octavia vRS. This kit is not suitable for IS38-equipped or higher output variants.
