Racingline Billet Rear Subframe Inserts – MQB/MQB Evo & 2.5 TFSI RS Models
The Racingline Billet Rear Subframe Inserts (VWR502000) are a straightforward yet highly effective handling upgrade for hard-driven VW, Audi, Cupra and Skoda models built on the MQB and MQB Evo platforms, as well as Audi 2.5 TFSI RS cars. They tighten up the rear of the car by removing the unwanted flex built into the factory subframe mounts.
From the factory, the rear subframe is held in place using soft rubber mounts with large hollow voids. These voids let the rubber deflect under load, which is fine for comfort but allows the subframe (and differential) to shift around when you’re driving hard. The result is a rear end that can feel vague, loose or imprecise, particularly during quick direction changes or spirited cornering.
Eliminating the “Squidge”
This kit consists of four precision-machined billet aluminium inserts that fill the voids in the existing rubber mounts. By doing so, they significantly reduce subframe and diff movement without removing the rubber entirely. The factory geometry stays put when it matters, so the car feels sharper, more connected and more responsive to both steering and throttle inputs.
Importantly, because the original rubber remains in place, the inserts don’t introduce harshness into the cabin. Ride quality is preserved, and there’s no noticeable increase in noise or vibration – making them just as suitable for a daily-driven car as a dedicated track build.
Why Billet Aluminium?
Many similar products on the market use polyurethane, which can soften, deform or wear over time. Racingline have chosen T6-6061 aluminium, a race-proven material that holds its shape indefinitely. This means the rear suspension geometry stays accurately located for the long term, even under repeated track use.
- Material: CNC-machined T6-6061 billet aluminium
- Quantity: Four inserts (full kit)
- Fitment: No subframe removal required – install in minutes
- NVH: No meaningful increase in noise, vibration or harshness
What You’ll Notice on the Road
Drivers typically report a noticeably tighter, more planted rear end. Turn-in feels crisper, mid-corner stability is improved, and power delivery out of bends feels more direct because the differential is no longer shifting around in its mounts. It’s one of those upgrades that’s hard to appreciate until you’ve driven the car back-to-back with and without it.
