Racingline Magnetic Paddle Shifters for Golf Mk7 & VW MQB
Upgrade the feel of every gear change with the Racingline Magnetic Paddle Shifters. Designed specifically for Volkswagen MQB platform models, including the Golf Mk7 and Mk7.5 GTI and R, these paddles replace the small plastic originals with a longer, more substantial aluminium blade that uses a magnetic action for a crisper, more positive shift.
Unlike many alternatives on the market, these are not stick-on covers. They are fully engineered replacement paddles that bolt directly to the steering wheel, giving a factory-quality finish and a genuine improvement in how the DSG gearbox feels to use.
Features and Benefits
- Magnetic shift action: Each pull delivers a tactile, audible metallic “clack” so you feel every gear change.
- Aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminium: Rigid, strong and built to last, with no flex when shifting under load.
- Extended blade design: Longer reach allows easy gear selection mid-corner, even at full steering lock.
- Direct replacement: Engineered paddle blades, not adhesive covers, for a clean OEM-style appearance.
- Reversible fitment: No drilling or cutting required, so the originals can be refitted at any time.
Finishes Available
Choose the finish that best suits your interior:
- Titanium Silver (VWR490005) – a refined liquid titanium look that complements most factory trims.
- Midnight Black (VWR490006) – a deep, polished black finish for a stealthier appearance.

Installation
Fitting is straightforward and fully reversible, with no modification to the steering wheel required. However, installation involves removing the airbag, so we strongly recommend that a qualified technician carries out the work. Working around airbag systems incorrectly can be dangerous and may disable safety equipment.
Why Upgrade?
The standard VW paddles are small, plastic and lack feedback, which can make manual shifts in DSG mode feel vague. These Racingline paddles address that directly: the longer reach makes them easier to find without taking your hands off the wheel, and the magnetic mechanism gives a definitive click on every pull. The result is a more engaging drive, particularly on twisty roads or track days, without changing how the car performs mechanically.
