The standard plastic dipstick fitted to many 2.0 TFSI EA113 engines has a well-known weakness: the handle becomes brittle over time and can snap off. When it breaks, pieces can fall into the dipstick tube or sump, leading to oil leaks or, in the worst case, engine damage.
