The Racingline Performance Software and PDM Bundle is a Stage 1 tuning package developed specifically for the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 R, fitted with the EA888.3 engine and IS38 turbo. It gives you a reliable, well-engineered way to unlock significantly more power and torque from your factory hardware, all completed from the comfort of your own driveway using Racingline’s Personal Device Manager (PDM) tool.

What the PDM Bundle Does

The PDM is a small handheld flashing device that connects between your laptop and your car’s OBD port. It allows Racingline’s remapped engine software to be safely written to your ECU (the engine’s computer). The new map adjusts boost pressure, fuelling, ignition timing and torque limits to extract more performance from the IS38 turbo while staying within safe operating limits.

On a healthy, standard Mk7 R running 99RON fuel, expect a meaningful step up in power and torque, sharper throttle response and a stronger pull through the mid-range. This isn’t a hype-driven claim: Racingline’s software is developed in-house with extensive dyno and road testing.

What You’ll Need to Flash at Home

• A Windows 10 or 11 laptop with a USB port and mains power supply
• A secure wired internet connection (or very stable high-speed Wi-Fi)
• A battery charger/support unit rated at 20A minimum (CTEK recommended)
• Access to mains electricity throughout the flashing process

Important Considerations Before Tuning

Manual gearbox owners: the standard clutch can struggle with the extra torque produced at Stage 1. We strongly recommend upgrading the clutch before, or alongside, tuning to avoid slip.

DSG owners: consider the combined ECU + TCU software bundle instead. The TCU (transmission control unit) software manages the extra torque properly, improves shift quality and raises the gearbox’s torque limits to suit the new engine output.

Fuel grade: the headline performance figures are based on 99RON fuel. A 95RON file is available if 99RON isn’t easily accessible in your area, though peak power and torque will be slightly lower. Do not use 95RON fuel in a car flashed with a 99RON map.

A Free Upgrade Path to Stage 2

Once you’ve purchased Racingline software, the upgrade from Stage 1 to Stage 2 is free of charge. You only need to add the supporting hardware when you’re ready. For Stage 2 on the Mk7 R, you’ll typically need:

• Racingline performance air intake and turbo inlet elbow
• Racingline performance intercooler
• Racingline performance downpipe
