Racingline Billet Magnetic Sump Plug – VWR180006
The Racingline Billet Magnetic Sump Plug is a small but worthwhile upgrade that helps protect your engine from the inside out. As an authorised Racingline retailer, we recommend this as one of the easiest ways to add an extra layer of defence at every oil change, particularly for owners of the latest EA888 Gen.4 engines found in the VW Golf 8 GTI, Golf 8 R, Audi S3 8Y, Cupra Leon and many other VAG models.
What It Does
As your engine runs, normal wear creates tiny ferrous (iron-based) metal particles. These are carried around the engine by the oil and, although the oil filter catches a lot, the smallest particles can keep circulating and contribute to further wear over time.
This sump plug sits at the bottom of your oil pan and uses a strong magnet to attract and hold those ferrous particles. They stay trapped on the plug until your next oil change, when they are simply wiped away. The harder your engine works, whether on the road or at a track day, the more useful this kind of protection becomes.
Build Quality
The plug is machined from solid billet metal for durability and houses a powerful magnet designed to do the job properly. It is a direct replacement for the factory drain plug, so no modifications are needed.
- Attracts and traps ferrous metal particles from your engine oil
- Machined from high-quality billet metal
- Strong magnet for effective debris capture
- Direct OE replacement, no modifications required
- Supplied with five replacement sealing washers, enough for five oil changes
Fitting
Installation is straightforward and is best done as part of a routine oil change. Drain the oil, remove the original sump plug, fit the Racingline plug with a fresh washer, and torque to the manufacturer’s specification. Always use a new sealing washer at each oil change to prevent leaks.
Fitment
This plug fits a wide range of VW, Audi, SEAT/Cupra and Skoda models, including popular EA888 Gen.4 applications such as the Golf 8 GTI and R, Audi S3 8Y and Cupra Leon IV, as well as many other engines that use OE oil drain plug part number N91167901.
To be certain it fits your car, please use the vehicle lookup on the Racingline Shop or check the Vehicle Fitment tab for the full application list.
Why Fit One?
It will not add power or transform how your car drives, but it is an inexpensive and sensible piece of preventative maintenance. For the cost of a single part fitted once, you gain ongoing protection against the kind of slow, hidden wear that can shorten an engine’s life, and a clear visual indicator at each service of how much debris your oil is carrying.
Applications
Please note, customers are wholly responsible for checking fitment for their vehicle.
