Sharpen up the handling of your MQB platform car with the Racingline Billet Underbody Tunnel Braces. These precision-machined aluminium braces replace the thin, stamped-steel factory items found beneath your car, reducing chassis flex and tightening up the way your vehicle responds through corners and under load. As an added benefit, the redesigned profile creates extra clearance for larger diameter aftermarket exhaust systems.

What do they do?
MQB cars use lightweight stamped-steel tunnel braces underneath the body to reinforce the chassis at its weaker points. While these do a basic job, they flex noticeably under hard driving. Racingline’s Billet Underbody Braces replace them with intricately CNC-machined aluminium parts, dramatically increasing stiffness and giving the car a more connected, planted feel.
Each brace is CNC machined from a solid block of 6061-T6 aluminium, a high-strength alloy commonly used in motorsport. Material has been removed only where it is not needed for strength, keeping weight low while improving rigidity where it matters most.

Fitting a Larger Bore Exhaust?
One of the most common issues when fitting a 3″ or larger aftermarket exhaust to an MQB car is that the factory rear tunnel brace simply doesn’t allow enough clearance. Many owners end up removing the brace entirely, which compromises the chassis stiffness it was designed to provide. The Racingline Rear Tunnel Brace solves this properly, giving you the clearance needed for a larger exhaust while keeping (and improving) the structural support of the car.
Choosing the Right Option
Racingline offers two braces, which can be purchased individually or as a pair:
- VWR810004 – Centre Tunnel Brace: Front-wheel drive vehicles only
- VWR810005 – Rear Tunnel Brace: Suitable for both FWD and 4WD vehicles
- VWR81000-PK – Full Pair: Centre and Rear braces together (FWD vehicles only)
Important: Owners of 4WD/Haldex-equipped MQB vehicles (such as Golf R, S3, Cupra 4Drive) can only fit the Rear Tunnel Brace. The Centre Brace is not compatible with 4WD models due to driveshaft routing.
