Racingline Carbon Fibre Rear Body Brace – Mk7 Golf, Mk3 Cupra & Mk3 Octavia (VWR81G700)
Sharpen up the handling of your MQB platform car with the Racingline Carbon Fibre Rear Body Brace. Engineered to tie the rear chassis hard points together, this brace reduces bodyshell flex at the back of the car, where modern hatchbacks like the Mk7 Golf, Mk3 Leon and Mk3 Octavia are at their weakest.
Modern cars built on the MQB platform use laser-welded shells that are very rigid up front between the suspension towers. The rear of the chassis, however, flexes noticeably under hard cornering, especially when paired with stiffer aftermarket suspension. Volkswagen themselves recognised this, which is why the limited-edition Clubsport S Golf was fitted with a factory rear brace from new.
What the Brace Does
By locking the rear suspension mounting points together, the brace helps the suspension keep its intended geometry under load. When the shell stops twisting, your springs, dampers and bushes can do their job properly, giving you a more precise, responsive and confidence-inspiring drive.
- Solid billet aluminium mounts bolted into ultra-stiff carbon fibre link bars for maximum rigidity with minimal weight
- Noticeably sharper turn-in and more stable rear end during hard cornering
- No added noise, vibration or harshness, ride quality is preserved
- Bolts to existing factory mounting points – no drilling required
- Fully reversible installation
- Compatible with rear seats up, folded down, or removed
Why It Works
Suspension components are only as effective as the structure they are bolted to. If the bodyshell flexes during cornering, suspension geometry shifts and the car feels vague or unsettled. Tying the rear strut towers together with a stiff brace keeps everything where it should be, so the chassis behaves predictably when you push on. The improvement is most obvious on cars running lowering springs, coilovers or track-focused tyres, but it is also felt during everyday spirited driving.
Installation Notes
Fitting the brace on the Golf is straightforward and uses existing body mounting points with no trim removal needed.
Important: On SEAT Leon and Skoda Octavia models, the rear boot carpet must be cut to allow the brace to mount correctly. A template and instructions are provided by Racingline for this purpose.
Safety note: This brace must not be used as a mounting point for seatbelts or race harnesses.
