Racingline High Output Ignition Coils (TFSI/TSI/FSI)
A straightforward, plug-and-play upgrade for a wide range of VW Group petrol engines, the Racingline High Output Ignition Coils deliver a stronger, more consistent spark than the standard factory units. Whether your car is completely stock or running a tuned setup with extra boost, these coils help your engine fire cleanly from idle right through to the redline.
Why upgrade your ignition coils?
Ignition coils are responsible for sending high-voltage electricity to the spark plugs, which ignites the fuel and air mixture in the engine. Over time, original coils can weaken, leading to misfires, rough running, and lost power. Modified engines running higher boost or aggressive ECU tunes also demand more from the ignition system than the factory coils were designed to provide.
Racingline’s coils produce a 10% increase in energy output over the original equipment (OE) units. That figure is deliberate: it’s enough to give a noticeably stronger spark and improved combustion, but not so much that it raises internal coil temperatures to a point where reliability suffers, as can happen with some other aftermarket “high output” coils.
Key benefits
- Stronger, more consistent spark for cleaner combustion and improved throttle response
- Prevents misfires under high load, high boost or at higher RPM
- Sensible heat management – 10% more energy without overheating the coil pack
- Direct plug-and-play fitment – no wiring changes or modifications required
- Ideal preventative maintenance for older cars still running tired original coils
Vehicle fitment
These coils are designed for a broad range of older-generation VW, Audi, SEAT and Skoda petrol engines, including:
- 1.8 TSI – EA888 Gen 1
- 2.0 TFSI – EA113
- 2.0 TSI – EA888 Gen 1
- 2.5 TFSI (pre-2017)
- 3.0 V6 Supercharged
- 4.2 V8 FSI
- 5.2 V10 FSI
Please use the vehicle lookup on our site or check the Vehicle Fitment tab to confirm these coils are correct for your specific car before ordering.
Important: warranty & diagnosis requirements
Racingline does not accept blanket warranty claims on full sets of coils. This policy exists to prevent misdiagnosis and unnecessary “parts cannon” replacements, where multiple parts are swapped without confirming which is actually at fault. To make a valid warranty claim, the following must be provided:
- Identify the faulty unit – the specific failed coil must be pinpointed. Claims submitted for full sets will be automatically rejected.
- Proof of failure – a garage invoice or diagnostic scan (for example, an error code such as P030X) identifying the specific cylinder misfire is required.
- The swap test – move the suspected coil to a different cylinder. If the misfire follows the coil to its new position, you have a valid claim.
Installation
Fitment is straightforward. The coils are a direct replacement for the OE units – simply unclip the wiring connector, remove the original coil, and fit the Racingline coil in its place. No tuning, no remapping, and no additional hardware is needed.
