Racingline High-Output Ignition Coils
The Racingline High-Output Ignition Coils are a direct plug-and-play upgrade over the original factory coils, delivering around 10% more output energy for a stronger and more consistent spark. Sold individually, they’re available in Red, Blue or Grey to suit your engine bay styling, and work equally well on a completely standard car or one tuned all the way to Stage 3.
A stronger spark helps the engine burn fuel more efficiently across the rev range. On modified cars running higher boost or more aggressive ignition timing, a quality coil pack is essential to avoid misfires under load. On standard cars, the upgrade gives a cleaner, sharper response and helps the engine run at its best.
Why upgrade your ignition coils?
- 10% greater output energy compared to the OE coils
- Stronger, more consistent spark for cleaner combustion
- Direct plug-and-play fitment, no wiring changes needed
- Helps prevent misfires on tuned engines running higher boost or timing
- Ideal preventative maintenance for older engines where original coils are starting to break down
Replacing tired factory coils is one of the most worthwhile small jobs you can do on an ageing turbocharged engine. As OE coils get older they gradually weaken, leading to rough idle, hesitation and misfire codes. A fresh set of Racingline coils restores reliable ignition and gives you the headroom to support future tuning.
Fitment
These coils fit a wide range of popular VW Group turbocharged petrol engines, including the 1.8T and 2.0T EA888 Gen 3 / Gen 3B units found across VW, Audi, SEAT, Skoda and Cupra models, as well as the 2.5T EA855 EVO five-cylinder in the Audi RS3 / TT RS, and the 2.9T / 3.0T EA839 V6 engines in Audi RS and S models.
Note that coils are sold individually. You will need to order the correct quantity for your engine:
| Engine | Coils Required |
|---|---|
| 1.8T EA888 Gen 3 | 4 |
| 2.0T EA888 Gen 3 | 4 |
| 2.0T EA888 Gen 3B | 4 |
| 2.5T EA855 EVO | 5 |
| 2.9T EA839 | 6 |
| 3.0T EA839 | 6 |
Please use the vehicle lookup or check the Vehicle Fitment tab to confirm compatibility with your car. If your factory ignition coils look physically different (other than colour) to the Racingline units, these upgrades are not compatible with your engine.
Warranty & Diagnosis Requirements
Racingline Ignition Coils carry a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects. The manufacturer does not accept blanket warranty claims. To prevent misdiagnosis and unnecessary “parts cannon” replacements, all claims must meet the following criteria:
- Identify the faulty unit: You must pinpoint the specific failed coil. Claims for full sets will be automatically rejected.
- Proof of failure required: Provide a garage invoice or a diagnostic scan (for example, error code P030X) identifying the specific cylinder misfire.
- The “swap test”: We recommend swapping the suspected coil to another cylinder. If the misfire follows the coil, you have a valid claim.
As an authorised UK dealer for Racingline Performance, you can buy with confidence knowing you’re getting genuine product backed by full manufacturer support.
