The Racingline Magnetic Drain Plug is a clever upgrade for the 1.8 and 2.0 TSI EA888 Gen 3 and 2.0 TSI Gen 3B engines fitted with a plastic oil sump. Because these sumps cannot accept a traditional threaded metal plug, Racingline developed their unique ‘True-Lock’ fitting system, giving owners a proper magnetic sump plug option for the first time.
The magnetic tip attracts and holds the tiny ferrous and abrasive metal particles that naturally build up in engine oil over time. By trapping this debris at the bottom of the sump, it stops the particles from circulating through the oil pump, bearings and other vital parts of the lubrication system. The harder the engine works, the more useful this protection becomes, making it a sensible upgrade for tuned cars, track day vehicles and daily drivers alike.
How the True-Lock System Works
Fitting is straightforward. A simple quarter-turn locks the plug into the plastic sump, then a polycarbonate locking ring is fitted to hold the plug securely in place and maintain a reliable seal. There is no risk of cross-threading, and once installed, the plug stays tight and leak-free.

Fitment

Important: This plug is for plastic engine oil sumps only. It will not fit metal sumps. Please use the vehicle lookup tool or check the Vehicle Fitment tab to confirm compatibility with your specific car.
Servicing
Treat the plug as a permanent upgrade. At every oil change, remove the plug, clean off any collected debris, fit a fresh O-ring and refit. Replacement O-rings are available separately.
