The Racingline Performance Cold-Air Intake System is a complete replacement for the restrictive factory airbox fitted to the VW Golf Mk6 R and Scirocco R. Designed around the 2.0 TFSI K04 engine, it delivers a steady flow of cold, dense air to the turbo, improving response, performance and induction sound.

The standard airbox is a known bottleneck on these high-output engines, particularly once tuned. Racingline solves this with a large-diameter intake path and an oversized filter housed in a fully-enclosed, anodised aluminium chamber that draws cool air from outside the engine bay.

Performance Gains

Developed alongside the Volkswagen Racing motorsport programme, this intake has been tested to deliver up to 9% more airflow at peak power compared with the original system. The improved efficiency also helps the turbo spool faster, with reductions of up to 500rpm seen in some cases, giving a sharper, more immediate throttle response.

The large filter surface area supports higher-power remaps, making this intake a solid foundation if you plan to tune the engine further.

Filter Options

Both filter options are handmade in the UK and chosen to balance filtration with airflow:

• Trifoam® (Foam) – Racingline’s own three-layer foam construction, offering excellent filtration with low restriction.
• Pleated Cotton – A traditional oiled cotton-style filter with a large pleated surface area for high airflow.

Both filters are reusable and can be cleaned, helping to keep ongoing running costs down.

Sound and Build Quality

The fully-enclosed, black-anodised aluminium housing acts as a ram-air style intake, pulling cold air from the front of the car. Under hard acceleration you will hear a richer induction note, but the sealed housing keeps the volume controlled so it never becomes intrusive during everyday driving.

Fitment
