What a Catch Can Does and Why It Matters

Modern turbocharged engines naturally produce oil mist and water vapour through the crankcase ventilation (PCV) system. Without a catch can, this vapour is recycled back into the intake, where it gradually coats the intercooler, inlet manifold and intake valves with sticky carbon deposits. Over time, this build-up restricts airflow and can lead to noticeable losses in performance and efficiency.

The Racingline Oil Management System intercepts these vapours before they can cause harm, trapping the oil in a dedicated reservoir while allowing clean air to continue through the intake. The result is a cleaner engine internally, with reduced long-term carbon fouling on the valves and manifold.

Filtration and Internal Design

At the heart of the system is a large-capacity catch can fitted with a 3-way baffle and foam filtration arrangement. This multi-stage layout separates oil mist and condensation efficiently, even under hard driving, while keeping airflow restriction to a minimum. The generous internal volume means longer service intervals between drains.

Build Quality

The catch can body is CNC-machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminium and finished in a hard-wearing gloss black anodised coating. The oil lines use a stainless steel inner braid wrapped in a protective nylon outer sleeve, giving them excellent durability and heat resistance. Swivel fittings are hand-polished for a clean appearance and easier installation routing.

Installation and Fitment
