Racingline Performance Subframe Torque Link Mount (VWR15G503)
The Racingline Performance Subframe Torque Link Mount, often referred to as the lower engine mount, pendulum mount, or dog-bone mount, is one of the most worthwhile upgrades you can make to a performance Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT or Skoda. It replaces the soft factory rubber mount with a precision-engineered unit that keeps your drivetrain firmly in place under hard acceleration and gear changes.
As an authorised Racingline Performance retailer, we recommend this mount to anyone who has added power to their car, drives enthusiastically, or simply wants a sharper, more connected feel behind the wheel.
What does the torque link mount do?
Your engine and gearbox are held in place by just three mounts. Two support the weight of the drivetrain, while the third, the torque link or dog-bone mount underneath the engine, controls the back-and-forth movement of the engine as you accelerate and brake.
The standard mount uses very soft rubber to keep cabin vibration to a minimum. That works well for an unmodified daily driver, but as soon as you add power or drive harder, the soft rubber allows the engine to shift around noticeably. You feel this as a slightly loose, jerky drivetrain and, more importantly, as wheel-hop under hard acceleration when the whole engine and gearbox assembly judders against its mounts.
On higher-mileage cars, worn factory mounts can even contribute to exhaust manifold cracks and driveshaft failures as the drivetrain moves excessively under load.
What difference does the Racingline mount make?
Rather than simply filling the voids in the standard mount with push-in inserts, Racingline have designed a complete replacement assembly. It uses a 75A durometer urethane bush, stiff enough to dramatically reduce drivetrain movement, but with enough give to filter out the worst of the vibration.
The result is a much crisper feeling car:
- Sharper throttle response on and off the power
- Smoother, more positive gear changes
- Significantly reduced wheel-hop off the line
- Better power transfer to the road or track
You will notice a small increase in drivetrain noise inside the cabin, but most keen drivers welcome that extra sense of connection to the car. For most fast road cars, fitting just this lower mount, while leaving the two upper mounts standard, gives the best balance of improved driving feel with minimal compromise to refinement. For heavily modified, track or motorsport cars, all three mounts should be upgraded together.
Fitment
This torque link mount is designed for transverse-engined VW Group vehicles fitted with the following engines:
- 2.0 TFSI
- 2.0 TSI
- 2.5 TFSI
- 3.2 V6
This covers a wide range of popular Golf, Scirocco, Audi S3, TT, Leon Cupra and Octavia vRS models, among others. Please use the vehicle lookup tool or check the Vehicle Fitment tab to confirm this part is correct for your exact car before ordering.
Why upgrade?
It is fair to say the torque link mount is not the most visually exciting modification you can fit to your car. There is nothing to show off under the bonnet. But ask almost anyone who has fitted one to their Golf, Scirocco or similar and they will tell you the same thing: it transforms how the car drives. For the cost involved, few upgrades deliver such an immediate and noticeable improvement in driving dynamics.
Applications
Please note, customers are wholly responsible for checking fitment for their vehicle.
