A True Cold-Air Intake System

The kit replaces the restrictive factory airbox with a single-piece carbon fibre intake scoop and filter housing. The design pulls cool, dense air from outside the engine bay and feeds it directly to the turbo, where it can be used most effectively. Compared to standard plastic airboxes, carbon fibre is lighter and offers better thermal insulation, helping to keep intake air temperatures (IATs) lower for more consistent power, particularly during longer or harder drives.

TriFoam Filter Technology

At the heart of the system is Racingline’s TriFoam filter – a triple-layer open-cell polyurethane foam filter handmade in the UK. It provides over 20% more surface area than the factory filter, allowing greater airflow without compromising filtration. Foam filters of this type strike a good balance between high flow and protection of the engine from dust and debris.

What This Means on the Road

By removing the restriction of the OEM airbox and filter, you can expect a noticeable improvement in throttle response and turbo behaviour. On standard cars you’ll feel a sharper, more eager intake, along with a more pronounced induction sound under load. On Stage 1 or Stage 2 tuned Polo GTIs, the benefits are more significant, as the engine can finally make use of the additional airflow available.

Racingline’s own dyno testing has shown this intake to be among the highest-flowing options available for the EA888.3B platform.
