Designed specifically for the Skoda Octavia VRS (5E) fitted with the EA888.3 engine and IS20 turbocharger, this Racingline Stage 1 tuning package is one of the most effective ways to unlock the performance your VRS already has hidden away. Using Racingline’s PDM (Portable Device Manager) tool, you can flash the new software to your car from the comfort of your own driveway, with no workshop visit required.

What the Software Does

Racingline’s Stage 1 software rewrites the standard ECU (engine control unit) map to optimise key engine parameters including boost pressure, fuelling, ignition timing and throttle response. The result is a substantial gain in power and torque, with sharper throttle response and stronger mid-range pull, all while keeping the engine within safe operating limits on standard hardware.

All variants of the Octavia VRS (220, 230 and 245 PS) produce the same peak tuned figures, as the differences are purely software based from the factory.

What You’ll Need to Flash at Home

• A Windows 10 or 11 laptop with a USB port and mains power supply
• A stable wired broadband connection (or very strong Wi-Fi)
• A battery charger or support unit capable of at least 20A (CTEK recommended)
• Access to a mains power socket near the vehicle

Fuel Grade

The headline performance figures are based on 99RON fuel. A 95RON file is available if 99RON isn’t easily accessible in your area, though peak figures will be slightly lower. Never use 95RON fuel in a car mapped for 99RON, as this can cause knock and engine damage.

Important Considerations Before Tuning

While Stage 1 is generally safe on standard hardware, there are a couple of points worth thinking about before you order:

• Manual gearbox: The extra torque can exceed the standard clutch’s grip. We strongly recommend upgrading the clutch before tuning if you have a manual VRS.
• DSG gearbox: Consider pairing this software with Racingline’s TCU (transmission control unit) software bundle. This ensures the gearbox can handle the increased torque and provides crisper, faster shifts.

Looking Beyond Stage 1?

Once you’ve purchased Racingline software, upgrades to Stage 1+ and Stage 2 are provided free of charge. To progress further, you’ll need to add the supporting hardware:

• Racingline performance air intake and turbo inlet elbow
• Racingline performance intercooler
• Racingline performance downpipe
