The Racingline Stage 2 EVO Brake Kit is a serious front brake upgrade developed exclusively for the VW Polo Mk6 GTI (AW) and other MQB A0 platform cars. Why Upgrade Your Polo GTI Brakes?

The factory Polo GTI brakes are perfectly adequate for everyday driving, but they’re quickly overwhelmed by repeated hard stops, spirited B-road driving, or any track work. Heat is the enemy of brakes – once the discs and pads get too hot, stopping distances grow and pedal feel becomes vague. This is known as brake fade.

The Stage 2 EVO kit tackles this with a larger 345mm x 30mm disc, a stiffer monoblock caliper, and pad and fluid pathways designed to manage heat far better than standard. The result is consistent, confident braking lap after lap, or stop after stop on a fast road blast.

Monoblock Caliper Construction

The calipers are machined from a single piece of aluminium (monoblock), a construction method usually reserved for top-tier motorsport kits. A one-piece caliper flexes far less under load than a two-piece bolted design, which translates to a firmer, more progressive pedal feel and more predictable braking.

It’s also significantly lighter. The complete caliper, pad and bracket assembly weighs just 4.4kg per side, compared to 8.6kg for the factory Golf 7R caliper assembly. That’s roughly half the weight, and because brakes are unsprung and rotating mass, every kilo saved here has a noticeable impact on ride, steering response and acceleration.

Discs, Pads and Pedal Feel

The kit uses 345mm x 30mm triple-groove discs. The larger diameter increases leverage on the wheel for stronger stopping, while the extra thickness gives more thermal mass so the brakes can absorb and dissipate more heat before fading. The triple-groove pattern helps clean the pad face and release gases under heavy use.

Piston sizes have been carefully matched to the Polo GTI’s weight and brake bias through Racingline’s own development programme. Because Racingline only develops brakes for Volkswagen Group cars, the pedal feel is tuned specifically for this platform rather than being a generic upgrade.

The supplied sport pads are designed for fast road use, giving strong bite from cold and good resistance to fade when pushed hard.

Important Fitment Notes

Wheel clearance must be checked before purchase. These calipers are larger than the OEM units and require adequate clearance behind the wheel spokes.

• Aftermarket wheels are recommended for the best clearance.
• With factory OEM wheels, a spacer of around 10mm is typically required, depending on the specific wheel design.
